Night Tours

We offer three different Night Tours:

Rio Drake Farm Night Tour:

Anteater

This Tour starts after dinner. We go off in the little forest that is part of our Farm and walk along a trail slowly for about 2 hours. We will look for spiders, insects, sleeping basilisks and lizards, snakes, opossums, raccoons, kinkajous, anteater or even a porcupine. Then we get to the river where we take the canoe to make our way back to the lodge and look especially for caimans and crocodiles.

Duration: 2 -3 hours

Frog and Snake Night Tour:

Masked Tree Frog

This tour starts at 7 p.m.  We will walk along a river or on the trails close to it to look especially for snakes and frogs which like that humid environment.

Duration: approximate 3 ½ hours

Includes: Snack

Bug Lady Tour

Leaf-mimicking katydid on a Bug Lady Tour

This tour starts around seven and you will walk around with your guide Tracie the Bug Lady, to look especially for insects. She will tell you many interesting stories about the life of the insects and spiders. This tour takes place in Agujitas that makes it necessary to take a bus to there and come back by taxi.

Duration: approximate 2 ½ hours plus 2 x ½ hour transport

Includes: Transport to Agujitas both ways by bus or taxi

Important note: For all night tours it is recommended to wear rubber boots or at least hiking boots. We have some pairs (sizes 37-43) available at Rio Drake Farm to lend you. It is also recommended to wear long sleeves in order to protect you from insect bites. It is necessary to bring your flashlight with you.
